Get Started

The Bacon Banjo Co. of Groton CT. was started by Fred Bacon in Vermont in 1905. In 1922 he was joined by David L. Day, the genius designer from Vega and the company became Bacon & Day continuing to 1939 and making some of the finest banjos known, such as the Number 9 Ne Plus Ultra.

Fred was a banjoist, playing 5-string Banjo and despite that, the company made mainly Tenor Banjos and Plectrum Banjos to satisfy the Dixieland Jazz market.
