Get Started

A village in Northamptonshire near Daventry and a Cotswold Morris tradition which had died by the 1860s. The dances were just remembered by older inhabitants when Sharp collected them, but the tunes were not.

White pleated shirts, epaulettes and rosettes, two crossed white silk scarfs. Scotch cap with ribbons. White trousers.

Dances (Sharp):

  • Old Black Joe (H)
  • Sherpherds' Hey (S/HC)
  • Beaux of London City (S/HC)

Bacon offers no more, suggesting that the limit of knowledge of this tradition was as Sharp collected.
