Get Started

A balance step is a dance step where you face your partner, put your weight on your left foot and kick across from right to left with your right foot. While kicking, hop on your left foot. Replace your right foot and put your weight on it and repeat the move with your left foot kicking and right foot hopping.

In other dances, often derived from more formal dances, a balance step is a simple backwards or forwards step.

Forward Balance is to step forward onto the right foot and then replace your weight onto your left and bring your right foot back to close against the left. Backward Balance is the same except that you step backwards onto your right foot.
