Billy ConnollyA Scottish comedian and folk singer in the 1970s and later actor and presenter, he came to prominence with If it was'na for your wellies and D.I.V.O.R.C.E - a spoof of Dolly Parton's hit. He started work as a welder in the shipyards but wisely gave it up to concentrate on folk singing. He was in a duo called the Humblebums with Gerry Rafferty and recorded a couple of albums. As he started to work solo, his comedian side came out and the folk singing started to take a back seat. He is married to Pamela Stephenson. |
