BuckbeeJohn (or James) Henry Buckbee was an early American Banjo and Drum Maker in New York City located on Webster Avenue and later at 383 Second Avenue. He was one of the earliest and largest manufacturers, beginning as early as 1860. These were 5-string banjos and by 1870 the factory was established and many banjos were mass produced. Some finer examples were hand made and he also manufactured for the trade making 'Ghost' banjos for many artists and companies such as Herschel Fenton, Bruno and the Dobson Brothers.
His factory was bought in 1897 by Rettberg and Lange.
