A long-necked Lute related to the Bouzouki and the Saz and the body is traditionally carved from a single piece of wood.

There are around 24 frets which are tied and can be moved to provide different intervals (similar to a Sitar). It is normally a 2 course instrument played with a plectrum. The courses are unusual: A double string C and a triple string G
