Cello The Violoncello is a bass member of the violin family and tuned in 5ths to C G D A an octave below the Viola. It is an instrument which shares heritage with both the Viola da Gamba and Viola da Braccio and seems to be a cross-over instrument among the bass examples of the families becoming firmly a part of the modern violin family.
The first known maker of Celli was Andrea Amati in the 16th century |
