Doncaster Folk Club

Started out in the 1970s in the back room of the Corporation Brewery Taps at Balby Bridge where many wonderful acts were witnessed such as Tony Capstick and locals Sweaty Albert. It moved after a long time at that venue to the Coach and Horses in Scot Lane where acts such as Jonathan Kelly and The Fureys were to be seen. It now meets in the Railway Hotel in West Street.

Doncaster Folk Club still meets at The Railway Pub in West Street, DN1. Not far from the Doncaster Railway Station. It meets on Tuesday evenings. 9pm till late. No admission charges and drinks at pub prices. No guests. Everyone is welcome to perform and we have a lively regular group of singers, musicians and poets who turn out in all weathers. All types of folk are welcomed. Plus Real ale is available.

There is another club in Doncaster which is mainly but not exclusively for musicians. It meets on Monday nights at the Ukrainian Club in Beckett Road, DN2 .

We have also revived the Doncaster Folk Festival. the 3rd takes place on 13,14 and 15th March 09. at The Ukrainian Club.
