English Sessions

A true English Session is a rare thing. Not that there aren't a great number of English Tunes and English Musicians - there are but gather some together and it very soon becomes mixed. Irish, American, Scottish, French and Scandinavian tunes very easily permeate the session.

There is nothing wrong with a mixed session - most non-Irish or non-Scottish sessions are mixed.

If a session is advertised as 'English Only' is might attract fewer sessioneers and there is a possibility of a preponderence of Morris tunes but a session which is 'just a session' can attract many different players. This generally means that no two weeks are ever the same giving a greater variety for musicians and audience alike.
