FippleThe Fipple is the block in the mouthpiece of some woodwind instruments which forms a duct or flue through which the breath passes. On exiting the duct or windway, the breath encounters a sharp edge which splits the air creating a whistle effect, called the Chiff. Examples of Instruments which use a fipple include the Penny Whistle and Recorder. |
