Furry Dance

The dance of Helston in Cornwall also known as the Floral Dance. Now held on 8th May each year it was probably a part of the Beltane festival. It is a processional dance for all comers.

There is also a type of Mummers Play called Hal an Tow on the same day and although it references the usual later characters (St George etc) it may well be an adapted co-survivor of the same festival. It does not seem to use the typical doggerel that other Mummers do.
