A region of North West Spain bordering Portugal. The name derives from the Celtic Tribe who lived there. Galicia retains its Celtic root, much as Cornwall or Brittany have.
The preferred instruments are Drum, Shawm (Pitu) and Bagpipes (Gaita) although both the Rebec and Hurdy Gurdy are popular as well as more modern instruments such as Accordian and Clarinet.
Nearby regions of Cantabria and the Basque Country have Arch dances, Sword Dances and Stick Dances which have many similarities with those in England. There are also Social Dances (Baile).
