Haxey Hood

An annual event in the village of Haxey in rural North Lincolnshire between Doncaster, Scunthorpe
and Gainsborough which takes place on the Twelfth Day of Christmas (January 6th).

A leather tube called the Hood is played for in a scrum and must be brought to one of the village pubs where it resides until the next year. It resonates with other scrum type games such as Football but the timing is in keeping with Plough Stots.
