In the Celtic calendar, a festival between Samhain and Beltane celebrated around the beginning of February and dedicated to Brigid or Bride who became a Christian saint. The festival was also merged by the church into Candlemas on the 2nd February. As with the other main Celtic festivals, Imbolc involves fire and purification. Brigid was a Goddess of fire and at this time a torch light procession honours her.
