Lallans Movement

A renaissance movement in Scottish poetry and the Gaelic language after the First World War. Lallans means Lowlands. The movement was started by C. M. Grieve (Hugh MacDiarmid) in the 1920s and attracted a lot of followers. There is some criticism that it created a language which was Synthetic Scots but may just have re-introduced old words back into the vocabulary.
