Lincolnshire

A County in the East of England between Norfolk and Yorkshire. It is a very fertile county with a lot of agriculture taking advantage of the rich earth. It is also a place of fens. Historically divided into three parts - Lindsey (an ancient Kingdom around Lincoln), Holland and Kesteven. Lincolnshire people are known as Yellowbellies with no convincing explanation as to why.

A famous Folk Song - The Lincolshire Poacher is known to many ('tis my delight on a shiny night in the season of the year).

There is a Lincoln Folk Festival in June and a Christmas Market in December. Lincolnshire is also where the Haxey Hood game takes place.
