Lionel Bacon

 Lionel Bacon was squire of the Morris Ring from 1962 - 1964 and compiled '//The Handbook of Morris Dancing//', known as 'The Black Book' because it was loose bound in a small black spiral bound cover. He published it in 1974 as an aide memoir to dancers and musicians. It contains almost 400 morris dances covering most traditions. There was a second edition in 1986.

Lionel was a founder member of Winchester Morris Men in 1953. he also danced with Cambridge Morris Men, The Travelling Morrice, London Pride and Whitchurch Morris Men.
