Lord Of Misrule

An important character in celebrations who appears in different traditions at different times of the year but generally between November and Twelfth Night. 

Generally associated with the Roman Feast of Saturnalia in Winter and the tradition of turning rules upside down - Masters serving slaves etc. The Lord may have been sacrificed after enjoying the high life for a period of time. 

He presided over the medieval Feast of Fools at Christmas time as a hang over from Saturnalia.
