MaccannProfessor John Hill Maccann (or MacCann or McCann - there is a debate in concertina circles {or hexagons?} but contemporary posters and documents give it as Maccann*) of Plymouth invented a popular system for the duet concertina and was a soloist thereon. Maccann duet concertinas were built by Lachenal & Co. and the system was an improvement on the Wheatstone "duett" system. It seems that Maccann also persuaded Wheatstone to make some to his system His brother William was also a maker, dealer and teacher. *It is possible that although the man's name was Maccann, the system became known as McCann.
