Morris Federation

The Morris Federation was inaugurated in October 1975 as an association of self-governing Morris clubs to encourage and maintain interest in the practice of Morris dancing by women and men of all ages. Similar in aim to the Morris Ring, except that it acknowledges women and children. Bravo.

The huge rise in popularity of Morris revival sides in the 1970s saw female sides forming and also started to see mixed sides. The Ring closed ranks. The Federation unbelievably started as an organisation only for female sides but very quickly matured to mixed and then any by 1982.
