Mothering Sunday

A day when people returned to their Mother Church for the service held on the 4th Sunday of Lent. The purple robes of Lent are replaced with a rose colour. It is traditional to bake Simnel Cake in some parts of England to celebrate the reuniting of families.

Note: Mother's Day is an entirely artificial, recent and American invention.
