Octave

The span of 8 Notes ( or 12 Semitones ) from a note to the same named note higher or lower. For example from A3 to A4.

Octave stringing is where two strings in the Course of a stringed instrument are tuned an octave apart so one string of the pair is quite thin in comparison to the other to achieve the octave higher note when plucked or struck. The alternative is Unison strung.
