Old Swan Band

An English Folk Band of the 1970s concentrating on English Country Dance music and originally called The Cotswold Liberation Front. It started from sessions in a Cheltenham Pub called the Old Swan where Rod , Fi & Jo Fraser and Martin Brinsford played.

One of the first to use Brass to bring a new dimension to traditional dance tunes. Unlike Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span which were concert bands, OSB played Barn Dances where the spectre of Cecil Sharp and EFDSS still lingered, and took them by storm.

Members: Rod Stradling (Melodeon), Danny Stradling (Vocals), Paul Burgess (Fiddle), Martin Brinsford (Drums, Mouth Organ), Fiona (Fi) Fraser (Fiddle), Jo Fraser (Saxophone, Clarinet, Penny Whistle)

Other Members: Mel Dean (Bass Trombone), John Adams (Trombone), Neil Gledhill (Trombone), Flos Headford, Heather Viga (Piano)
