The Redowa is one of the 19th century social dances for couples which appeared about the same time as the Waltz and the Polka. The Redowa is more a style of dancing or a particular type of step than a dance in itself. Hybrid Dances were popular and a Redowa in 3/4 time was similar to a Waltz and in 2/4 time was called the Polka-Redowa.

The characteristic step is a small leap around the partner, a gliding step followed by another small leap around.

A famous piece of music La Redowa Polka by Cezare Pugni is now a well known Folk Tune and often used at Barn Dances
