Get Started

To brush fingers, Plectrum or other object over the strings of a stringed instrument to cause the strings to vibrate. A strum moves each string in turn and as it releases, sets the string in motion. Strums technically produce an Arpeggio, but done quickly the notes appear to be sounded simultaneously.

The other ways in which strings can be set in motion to make sound is by Finger Picking, Bowing or hitting, usually with small sticks or hammers.
