Sweeneys Men

 Formed in 1966 by Johnny Moynihan, Andy Irvine and Joe Dolan. Joe left in 1967 and was replaced with Terry Woods. Andy Irvine left in 1968 and was replaced by Henry McCulloch.

It is reputedly this line-up of traditional instruments and music with electric guitar (from Henry) that inspired the formation of Fairport Convention and later Steeleye Span

During this era, Johnny introduced the Bouzouki into Irish Music

The group broke up in 1969, Terry joining Steeleye and Andy and Johnny, refusing the offer to join him went on to play in Planxty.
