Tenor Banjo A 4 string fretted stringed instrument of the banjo family. It is shorter than a Plectrum Banjo which facilitates the playing of Melody. Some were produced as Short Scale - typically 16 or 17 frets rather than the standard 19. This measure refers to the number of frets up to the join with the body where most fretting stopped. A few banjos had frets continuing over the head and maybe cutaway.
