Get Started

A family of folk singers and writers from Hull in Yorkshire. Associated with mainly unaccompanied singing with harmony. They were regulars at the folk clubs in Yorkshire such as the Rockingham Arms in Wentworth in the 1970s and 1980s but they played and sang much further afield.

The family comprised Norma, Mike and Lal (Elaine) Waterson but often included in the line-up Martin Carthy (Norma's husband) and Rachel Waterson (Mike's daughter).

Largely superseded by Waterson:Carthy (Norma, Martin and Eliza Carthy).

Lal was also known as a songwriter and sadly died in 1998.
