English Banjo Maker

Arthur John Wilshurst (1862-1946) was a Banjo maker from London who made Zither Banjos from 1890. His banjos had distinctive ornate metal fretwork backed by coloured silk. He made and sold his banjos as a one-man operation and also made for the trade, notably for Turner and Ebblewhite. When he died, his stock was bought by the Clifford Essex company.
