WrekinA Hill in Shropshire whose name is derived from Celtic. Local legend has it that a giant was carrying a spadeful of earth and was persuaded to deposit it by a shoemaker where the Wrekin now sits. The giant also scraped his boots and formed the Ercall - the smaller hill nearby. Shropshire folk (and elsewhere in the midlands) will talk about 'all round the Wrekin' for a long and drawn out story or a trip that takes a long way round. |
